Scheduling in England

Post by Sandy » Mon Sep 24, 2012 12:22 pm

Today in the Heritage Journal is the first in a series of articles which will explore scheduling activity at English Heritage. To kick things off there is a short article asking English Heritage to explain why they refer to earthworks as buildings. It seems odd that the countries leading heritage agency seems incapable of differentiating between architecture and archaeology. Over the coming months a wide and varied selection of questions will be posed and hopefully some answers will be forthcoming.

We had a rise in site hits yesterday Sandy, so it looks like the first article drew quite an audience. Good stuff!

That is indeed good news. This is a very important issue and I believe highlights the culture at the Designation Department which is very biased towards architectural assets (horrible jargon alert). I have been promised a response to this article and hope that the ensuing debate on this and the many other important issues that will be raised in the near future will be fruitful.
