We are currently 3 twitter followers away from 3000. Which is nice!
Minimal spammers and a lot of archaeos and heritage types...

Ah! It was 2995 when I checked this morning... Exciting stuff.

Haha, back to 2996, the fickle finger of twitter followers eh?

Wonder if we could incentivise followers?

Not the annoying "the 3000th follower gets a prize" thing, cos that's unfair to the previous 2999, but maybe we could have a little prize that we could put all 3000 (or however many we decide upon) followers into a prize draw for?

In fact I'd suggest NOT 3000, cos we're nearly there. If we want more followers, maybe 3500?

I quite like the fact we've reached this number through natural growth.. Might be due to my dislike of people trying to boost numbers that way, especially marketers. :)

I had wondered whether we should make a thing of reaching 3K, but then thought maybe people, especially organisations with less, might resent it. But its a great achievement . Didn't we get to 2K in Jan?

I agree with Juamei - I don't think we need to incentivise anyone. The followers we've got are here because they want to be, not because we tried to bribe them.

No harm in pointing out we've reached the 3K barrier - I'll post something about it tomorrow assuming we're there by then.

I also agree. I hate the whole incentive thing. Don't know what came over me. :D Must have still had me Marketing head on, Aunt Sally... ;) Totally agree that organic growth is healthiest.

Numbers have dipped slightly since we started talking about it. Watched kettle syndrome. If you want them to spike get Stephen Fry or someone to retweet a good article.

Haha! Or do what I do and not worry about them. Despite what I said about incentivising. Watching daily is like trying to lose weight. You put on or lose the odd pound here and there - you only notice a real difference if you check less frequently.
