Silbury Springs

A *very* interesting article in this month's British Archaeology for all those with an interest in Silbury, discussing the various springs in the area and a suggestion that they were the reason Silbury was built in the exact place that it was. Odd that testing water temperature should be so differen...

Re: Happy Day!

Nice one! Not sure about the authenticity of that view though :-) Coming from the north (Silbury is south), there's no avenue in that direction!

Versatile Blogger Award

We've been nominated for this, which is nice :-)

We now have to nominate 15(!) other blogs, and provide 7 facts about ourselves. Any ideas for who we can nominate?

Re: Summer Quiz?

Easy ones first, huh? ;-) I had trouble identifying all the circles from last year earlier today, and I set the quiz!

Anyway, a 'Spot the hillfort' quiz is now in Draft for those that can view it. Let me know what you think, and we can schedule for later this month, or early next as a Summer Quiz.

Summer Quiz?

So, the sun finally appears to be out! We had a nice drive round yesterday, looking at some wells and hillforts in Cambs and Essex, story on the Journal in a couple of days. Last year, we had a short summer quiz, asking readers to identify several stone circles from pictures taken from Google Earth....

Re: Extracting the Past

I've left a comment on the Wessex article, providing a link back to us. It's awaiting their moderation process, so probably won't get published. :-)

Re: Extracting the Past

Had a great day today! Firstly, the Wessex Arch open day was very interesting. We got there early, and Mikki was made to feel welcome, everyone from Wessex was very engaging, and happy to explain the display boards and finds from the Horton Quarry. Phil Harding was off in a side rom, knapping away, ...

Re: Extracting the Past

Hoping to get there, on the way down to Woking. All depends on how Mikki feels of course, but I'm always hopeful.

I'll be leaving a few of my flyers if I do go there...

RESCUE AGM this weekend

Is anyone else thinking of going to this? I recently renewed our group membership. The AGM is held in the Surrey History Centre in Woking - a nice clean building, with decent wheelchair access, so I'm hoping Mikki will be well enough to come down with me. It starts at 1pm - I'll take a few of the HA...
