We were able to determine that a basic error in the conveyancing process during the sale of the land led to a misunderstanding over the extent of the Scheduled area. And there is the crux of it. Sounds a lot like the owner realised he was about to banned from demolishing so got in there asap.

I think Scheduled Monument consent should be a matter of public record. Have you used www.whatdotheyknow.com?
